Subject: Slavic&EastEuropeProfessionalList

SEELANGS is a professional discussion list for anyone interested in Slavic and East European languages, literatures, and cultures.

At the time of its creation in 1991, SEELANGS was affiliated with AATSEEL, The American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages. That affiliation is no longer official, but there are many AATSEEL members subscribed to SEELANGS, including members of the Executive Council and other standing committees.

SEELANGS was hosted for its first sixteen years on the LISTSERV server at the City University of New York (CUNY) first by Robert Whittaker and then by Alex Rudd. In March 2007, the list moved to the LISTSERV server at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, where it was administered by Andrew Drozd. Currently, SEELANGS is housed at Indiana University and overseen by a steering committee consisting of the following individuals:

This committee is responsible for formulating and revising list protocols, strategizing organizational structure, liaising with the major professional associations for Slavic and East European studies, troubleshooting issues that might arise in the moderation of the list, and brainstorming how best to ensure the long-term service of the list to its members.

Any one with questions should send an email to the list administration. This email address can also be found in the welcome message.
